Guan, Yongyu. (2023). A contrastive analysis of the embodiment of tasty terms Spicy(La) in Korean and Chinese. The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal, 31(3), 1-24. The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning expansion and conceptualization of their meanings targeting vocabulary in the Korean and Chinese taste terms '¸Ê´Ù' and 'Õ¸'. First, by comparing the semantic items described in dictionary and analyzing Corpus data, the rich expression patterns used in everyday life were classified into taste areas, sight areas, smell areas, hearing areas, emotion and attitude personality areas, work and event handling areas, human areas, and weather areas. Secondly, for the process of constructing vocabulary meanings from this study, the hybrid space and expression structure of each meaning were organized and analyzed using the Conceptual Blending Theory, a core theory of cognitive linguistics presented by Fauconnier & Turner(1998). Therefore, through this study it can be seen that the vocabulary meaning expansion process has a very close relationship with physical experience. Moreover, negative and positive feelings about spicy taste appear as an extension. In addition, in this study, the expansion of the meaning of vocabulary is not only based on human experience, but also shows different characteristics of language expression due to cultural differences. |
