Kim, Rhanghyeyun (2019). Labeling and Moving Adjunction Structures. The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal, 27(3), 125-147. Chomskys (2013) labeling algorithm fails to label adjunction structures, resulting in the Full Interpretation problem. This paper shows that the algorithm faces another problem in moving adjunction structures, based on the data from adverb-adjunction and scrambling. This paper then suggests that adverb-adjunction structures as well as scrambling structures can be labeled and thus are correctly predicted to be able to move if we adopt the Anti-Labeling Device of Saito (2016). Finally, Feature-based Labeling alternatives to the Anti-Labeling Device are critically discussed. |
